Hey everyone. I’m having a small issue that I’m hoping to get some opinions on.
Tl;dr: investor asked me to fly around the world with less than a weeks notice and I can’t afford the $2,000 ticket. Is it taboo to ask them to help cover it?
Backstory: I am in fairly advanced investment talks with a company that is fairly large in a parallel domain. They are valued at just over $1B. They want to invest In my (hardware) company that is currently bootstrapped.
The CEO of the company asked me to fly out there to personally show them the prototype and negotiate a term sheet. He wants to do it before year end and proposed a date less that a week away for me to come.
I’m more than happy to actually go out there but the only problem is it’s literally around the world. It’s a $2,000 ticket and it would be seriously pushing my finances to take that on.
So my question: is it frowned upon to ask that the investor subsidize the ticket since the meeting was his idea and he’s really wanting it to be before year end?
