This might be a bad question based on the answer being relatively obvious... but what kind of impact did hiring a marketing / growth person have on your startup?
I am a young (23), technical founder. 10 months ago I started building a unqiue social network. Having launched officially 1 month ago, the app that I built for android and ios grew to 4000 users with 500-650 returning every single day, with over 50 spending more than 4 hours on the platform a day.
Here is a graph of our first 5 weeks:
It's a downward trend but I think is pretty normal considering the big spike we had initially. No growth, but the fact so many stick around and come back every single day is very encouraging.
The problem is, I want to grow! But I also have a very small team:
Me: Founder and developer (full-time)
Investor / adviser: Does no work, but has great feedback
"Project Manager": That is free but only works 5hrs/month
So it's practically just me at the moment. Which is a problem because there is a lot of moderation that needs to happen, a lot of development, a lot of marketing, a lot of brand identity, etc, etc, I could go on!
There's A LOT. I have a bit of cash from investors. About $15-20k at the moment but aiming to get that to $60-80k soon.
I want to hire a marketing/growth person. A student, probably (since I don't have too much money), that can work 20 hours/week.
Being so small, and having few resources with a great potential product, I don't know what the next step is. I think I need to start hiring people, serious people. Only being me is holding the startup back.
I guess I'm just looking for advice. Any feedback would be much appreciated!
