I am looking at starting a business, and was told I couldn’t use a duplicate name that is currently being used in my state. So I looked it up, and that’s what the state website basically says. Where I am confused is I typed in my idea of a name into google followed by (Ohio) and DOZENS of businesses popped up with the same name as the one I want it a very slight variation. If it wasn’t exactly the same, then the only difference would be using a z instead of an s or not having it pluralized and there’s just no s. So my question is, how could the state website say that you cannot use a duplicate business name or one very similar but obviously all of these businesses have the same name?
