Here's the background story... I've been doing marketing consulting by myself for the past few months. One of my clients (the highest paying one), after seeing great results from my work, wanted to partner with me and open a consulting agency.
He has no background in marketing so he won't be doing any of the work we land. The only benefit of partnering with him is that he has great connections and can bring a lot of potential clients.
He suggested that I take a salary, he doesn't, and he'll take 45% of the profit after taking out my salary and other expenses, and I take 55% in addition to my salary.
Not sure if that sits well with me.
This is what I'm thinking... I can open my own consulting agency and pay him a finder's fee - aka a percentage of any business he refers. But I would take full ownership of the company.
I don't have any precious experience of running a business with partners so I don't know what the best solution is.
The worst case scenario is he gets mad, I lose him as a client.
Anyone has any input? Anything would be helpful! Thanks!
