Just starting out as a mechanical engineer and I am looking to start doing my own design work and eventually lead into manufacturing or something. I have some money saved up and I want to start projects that could turn into something lucrative. I've started my social media presence and got the website built, I just need projects to populate the images with. I've been doing some solidwork modeling of lighting fixtures, I think that could be a potential path that I have a good amount of expertise in, though the industry is viciously competitive. Does anyone have any experience or stories in the business of design?
