For a long time I've been writing across Linkedin, Medium, Thrive Global and a number of other platforms on my experience working as a learning and development professional, sharing my knowledge in this area along with a focus on mental health and personal development too.
A few months ago I decided to create a little project to see if I could share my writing with a wider audience through a weekly newsletter on top of the sharing on social media that I already do mostly ad-hoc but have taken a more serious approach to recently. I've been running the newsletter for roughly 2 months, so still very much early days and although I'm not expecting much engagement right now - I'm really interested in hearing how others who run their own newsletter have grown their audience? what were the tactics you used? how did it perform in the first 6 months vs 12 months and so on? can you share any tips on increasing subscriptions?.
I share a lot of my own writing and other interesting pieces of content in my newsletter. I've even more recently launched my own website to host all of the writing that I've published over the years across multiple platforms and for the archives of my newsletter plus a place where I hope I can capture more subscriptions too. As of writing this I have over 100 pieces of writing or we can call them blog posts in my portfolio and I write at least 3 short to medium ( -2000 word) pieces a week with larger, more in depth (5000 -10,000) words pieces every 4- 6 weeks so I'm creating plenty of content to share.
