I'm in quite a predicament with my e-commerce store. Due to some poor management of funds, I no longer can buy the product I need to keep in stock at all times. My product sells out fast and the turn over for getting more in stock is about 2-3 months. Either way, at this point, I can't buy more product as the risk is too high for me personally. It's truly a sad story for me as things were going very well with the business until I was hit with a lawsuit.
My ecommerce site is run on Shopify, and my product ranks in the second position on the first page of Google. I get around 18k unique visitors per month. I also have a lot of traffic to my blog for other products I no longer sell. I realize that my business is about dead, but I was thinking, maybe I can turn it into something different, like an affiliate site.
I'm here looking for advice and I have a few questions. If I change my product page's add to cart OR change my checkout button to an affiliate link that I will lose rank on Google? Is that just an awful idea in general? My site is all organic traffic, no paid advertising has been done from the start. I have a lot of backlinks as well from some good sites.
My other thought is, maybe I can sell another brands product on my site directly, and then process orders somehow through the backend, so customers don't need to leave my site. Basically I turn my branded store into a kind of distributor/retail store for other brands' products. All i would do is change the picture on my product page and the site won't lose ranking.
I'd love someone to weigh in. I'd even like to have someone consult with me as the situation is pretty complicated. I don't have a lot of money obviously, but I know good advise usually isn't free so I'm all ears on more than just a comment below. I did 33k net profit since launching in Feb 2017, so it's truly a shame that my startup has come to this. I think there is still potential to keep making money off of my site as traffic is continually increasing.
By the way, i tried to sell the site on Empire but they told me that since I will be out of stock for the next 2-3 months, they can't accept me (but would have with how my numbers are until now if I was stocked). Here is my site www.setforset.com. I was hesitant about putting the site here but I think it might be necessary to be able to get some good feedback.
