Hey guys. First time posting here, been mulling this idea for a while. I’m a contractor in the utility sector. I use subcontractors for things like traffic control, concrete, paving, yard restoration, and mechanic work. These pass through (with markup) revenues range from 50k a year (mechanic work) to 2mm (paving).
I used to these things in house but chose to focus on doing what we do best and just produce the most possible contracted out work as possible for the backend revenue. This decreased margins but increased revenue enough that it was a win in both profit and simplification due to shortened repeating processes.
My information sharing is to see if there’s anyone that has helped someone capitalize on the outside spend while benefiting themselves.
One of the simpler businesses I contract to is traffic control. I keep around 6 employees busy year round plus any management. I also have the connections for long term contracts to large clients. I appreciate the convenience but hate to see the rates I pay evaporate.
I’m unable to focus on running a flagging company, a paving company, a concrete company, etcetera and feel my time is better spent on expanding infrastructure installments.
Has anyone set up friends or contacts with automatic work in exchange for equity?
