I quit my $130k job to start my own company

Edit: Just to clarify, I didn’t burn any bridges. In fact, my company knew I had this venture and said if it doesn’t work out, I would still have a job in 6 months. Also, at 23 years old, it’s worth the risk for me.

Hi everyone!

About 5 weeks ago I left my six-figure job in Boston to pursue my startup full time. I decided to document the whole process to show the rise or decline of something that has the potential to be great. I'm creating this video series as an outlet to discuss any challenges and successes, both on a personal and company level, that we face. There will be a video released each week, and the first one was released today.

My startup is Canary, a platform for venues and musicians to book gigs. Everything we are doing is because we believe in connecting the music scene. We believe that venues and musicians should focus on what matters to them, and that booking live music should be easy. The way we do that is by creating a beautifully designed app that’s simple to use. As a venue, you can find new talent to hire and handle all communication and scheduling with minimal effort. As a musician, you can create a profile to show off your brand to the venues who browse the app.

I hope there are some people out there who can learn a thing or two from what we are doing, whether that's from mistakes we make or things we do right. Check it out here and let me know what you think.

Thanks!
