Health insurance for self-employed freelancer?

I live in California and am considering health insurance again this year. The costs are sooo expensive for really high deductible plans. I've heard that there are plans through a Freelancer's Union. Are those worthwhile? Are there any other options for legitimate healthcare plans for freelancers? Here's what I know of:

  • Medicaid - I make too much income so I'm disqualified from this
  • Short-Term Health Insurance - not interested, I want legitimate coverage lol
  • State health insurance aka Obamacare - Quite expensive
  • Freelancer's Union

A little about me: 31, m, live in California, work as a marketing freelancer, make $50K +, I'm generally healthy but go to about 5-15 dr appointments a year for chronic conditions

A little about a plan I'm looking for: a PPO, getting medical + dental, hopefully don't have to pay $500 frickin bucks monthly for a plan i hardly use.

If you know of ANY other routes to get health insurance plans PLEASE let me know, it'd be super helpful as I'm trying to not pay out the ass for it :))))
