I ran two companies, closed one and sold the other.. I'm at the point now where I'm focusing on several small side gigs/jobs/rentals that make money rather than focusing on building the next Google.. So far I'm liking it.. I have the stability/salary of my 9-5 job as well as the income from my side gigs. The side gigs allow me to focus on hobbies that make money and that I won't get burnt out on.. If you like fishing, don't sell bait. That's what I always told myself with the last 2 companies I owned. They started as hobbies but then took them on as a full time business. I don't even dabble with those hobbies anymore as I just started to hate everything about it. Now to find a few more side gigs that will make money.. :)
Rule of thumb.. Don't walk away from stability unless you're making millions and the cash is rolling in.. Always keep in mind, what you're making today might not be what you're making tomorrow.. People will beg, borrow and steal money/ideas..
