A mobile app for getting together with friends and strangers for sports, drinks, lunch, etc

Hi everyone,

I've started writing an app that would simplify getting together with friends and strangers for sports, random lunches, poker games, etc. I already have a working version (take a look at some of the screen-shots). My concern is that there isn't enough demand for an app like that. I've talked to some people and they're very excited, while others say that they forget to use these apps.

What's your take? How would you use an app like that? What would you definitely want to see there? What would stop you from using it?

My current idea is simple: You select what/where/when, and then a notification is sent out to your friends, asking them "are you in"? If yes, they join the event and can chat, if no then they're not bothered by the constant chat messages (especially if you use SMS right now). Later I was going to open it up to strangers as well, where strangers in the same proximity would get the notification based on their interests (that they selected upon sign-up).

Tech: Everything is running on AWS. (React Native, AWS AppSync, AWS DynamoDB, Lambda, etc).
