So often entrepreneurs despair at the fact that no matter what they’re trying, things don’t seem to be working out in their business. It’s frustrating and a hit to anyone’s motivation to put so much effort into something that’s just not generating results.
I often hear from entrepreneurs who are feeling stuck and in despair at the fact that no matter what they’re trying, things don’t seem to be working out in their business. It’s really frustrating and a big blow to anyone’s motivation to put in so much and feel like you’re getting nowhere.
Too many people give up at the first hurdle, not realising that building a business is never going to be an easy, straightforward process and things are likely to all go wrong before they start going right.
Most of the time it’s mindset that holds us back and not whether we’re actually capable of achieving or doing something. Focusing on the problems and why it’s not working is just going to make you feel down about it. It’s all about perspective.
Instead, try asking questions like “How can I fix this? What can I tweak? What can I learn from my results?” so you can let your mind to be open to solutions and possibilities.

Here’s the strategies I try when I feel stuck and my efforts don’t seem to be working:
Take a step back from your business and take a look at everything you’re doing in detail. Break everything down so that you can really see what’s going on. So often people give up, thinking certain strategies will not work for them, when in fact they just haven’t spent enough time figuring out HOW to make it work for them. You need to be willing to experiment and to be the investigator in your business, constantly analysing what you could change and tweak to make things work. So take a step back, analyse what you’re doing and where you may be going wrong. Be honest with yourself and take responsibility for the issue and for finding the solution.
Ask for help or feedback! You don’t always have to figure everything out yourself and you shouldn’t have to! Ask your audience or your team for their help and input. Get advice and help from experts you can reach out to, or from the people involved in the problem you’re experiencing. Getting someone else’s perspective on the matter is always a real help.
Take a look at all the evidence and the results of your investigation. It’s not about changing everything in one go, so make a list of things you could change or improve upon. Figure out what changes you can make and then prioritise your list so that you know where to begin. Finally, slowly start implementing those changes.
Breaking past the barrier starts with having the awareness of what’s going on. It might even be that you need help from someone who is a bit more experienced or a few steps ahead of you, or maybe you need to do some serious research. At the end of the day, entrepreneurship is all one big experiment and you need to be ready to roll up your sleeves and figure things out because no entrepreneurial journey is going to be plain sailing. We all hit rough seas and you have to be able to navigate that, get past it, grow and learn.
